Being An Old Guy In A New Game: Art Journey of Morten Klementsen

"Being an Old guy in a New Game, some of my political friends thought I was tough to give up my political career for something as uncertain as a "new" art form, but I love challenges, and most of the ones I acquaintances have given very good feedback. Typical of you Morten - is one of them..."

Could you tell us about yourself?

Graphic designer Morten Klementsen mainly uses digital production in his art.

Since Klementsen has extensive experience from the advertising industry and is trained as a graphic designer from the MI advertising school, he has a good knowledge of "the graphic laws", and can therefore also break some of these, in order to create art.

His strength in the world of art is primarily his well-developed skills intuition. The artist is fond of colour, and he likes to challenge his audience. Klementsen is selling his digital art on international online sales sites, and is considered the "senior" in digital art.

Klementsen was born in 1964 in Bergen, he has a professional background as a founder and in sales and marketing.

He was a Politician until 2023. Morten sat on the municipal council and in the Chairmanship in Alver municipality, and was also elected to the County Council in Vestland of Norway. He was also a member of it The Business Committee and he also sat on the County Committee, which corresponds to chairmanship.

How did your enviroment react to your intrest in digital art?

Being an Old guy in a New Game, some of my political friends thought I was tough to give up my political career for something as uncertain as a "new" art form, but I love challenges, and most of the ones I acquaintances have given very good feedback. Typical of you Morten - is one of them...

Were there any names that inspired you?

As I am from Norway, I grew up with Edvauard Munch himself. He has given me a lot of inspiration. But I'm a happy and innovative "boy", so Salvador Dali has probably meant the most to me. He was a genius! - If I reach him to the sole of his shoe, I will be a harmonious crazy and a happy person.

Could you tell us about your production process?

For me, everything starts with a thought and a story. The story is often self-experienced, and in the world of art you can make a good story even better. I do NOT like to be in only one train of thought - or in one booth. I want to explore most of the wonderful world of art.

Which art movement do you feel closer to?

I like figurative art best, and Portraits and Landscapes are close to me. But capturing imagination and Futurism is also a big part of my artistic soul.

Who or what do you think art is for?

Art is clearly for everyone. The concept of art is broad, but all people in all societies need art. This is to get inspiration, security and other important feelings that we humans are completely dependent on.

Can you talk about your future plans?

As a born optimist, I have big inner plans for the future. I turn 60 later this year, and my career as a performing artist has just begun. I am a typical "ad hoc" man who follows my own ideas and intuitions. I would like to mention that Øyvind, my brother and agent, who accompanied me to beautiful Istanbul, is a good companion.

Finally, is there anything you would like to add?

Yes, I would like to thank you for nice days in Metropole Istanbul.

And I have a message that we humans should think more about each other in the future. The age of selfishness must be replaced by empathy and sympathy. Be unto others as you would have others do unto you is a very good golden rule of life. - And be free. don't follow others, be the first to wander into the unknown. Living in a box is probably safe, but oh so boring. Let us dare, and let us live life to the fullest in periods.

Thank you very much for your hospitality in beautiful Turkey. Thank you for the support from Luna Grande Art and their professional staff. Thanks!!!!
